Preparation Strategy
What was your study Plan?
I started my preparations only after my internship…attended classes..,studied
subject wise and gave mock tests accordingly..I finished my first reading by
September and started revising with ADR study materials and class
notes…simultaneously I gave the NEET nd JIPMER mocks
How many hours did u study ?
8 to 10 hrs per day…I was not strict about the hours…just had a target of topics to be finished on a particular day
Your tips for success ?
Dedication , hard work , persistence along with a sound basic knowledge from ur UG life is enough for anybody to crack an entrance.. never give up anytime…relax yourselves whenever u feel low or depressed…always have a thought dat something better is waiting for u in the future.., never settle for less than what u want..
During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?
yes many times…I have faced so many downfalls….bt still managed to get through those times…spoke with Arun sir, my parents and frnds..they were a constant push fr me..
How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?
6 to 8 months of steady preparation post internship is more than enough….
When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?
April 2016… after my internship…I gave my fullest efforts in the last 4 months
Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?
Yes…always had dat problem..so during revision I did not go subject wise…I made sure that I had a touch with all subjects … so revised notes, tables, criteria nd other volatile points often…I had prepared my own hand notes with the most volatile points…kept on revising it whenever I find time..
What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?
I did not have a very strict timetable..I m a late riser and I study more during night times….for revision I maintained a timetable and I tried to follow it
What is your advice to the future aspirants?
Always fix a goal..select ur dream speciality and then start working accordingly… give as many mock tests as u can so that u will know where u are…and you can assess your weak subjects and allot them more time…be sincere and confident throughout…have a good study partner…

What was your strategy for the exam day?
Sleep well the previous night…do not overload your mind by studying in the last minute.. go with a blank mind.. as your presence of mind, application and time management matters more than your preparation
What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with last question or started from middle of the question paper.
I started from question 1…answered the questions I m sure of…and marked the remaining for review….then started ruling out options
Did u underwent the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?
Yes many times…My parents and best Frnd are my stress busters….they kept on encouragibg me…I used to watch TV whenever I m bored….
Tips for your Juniors
What was your strategy for NOV 2016?
JIPMER Nov 16 was an unexpected paper…there were no repeats… and many oneliners , problems nd fact based questions were asked in contrast to the previous sessions… so I made sure that I marked all the known questions first… please concentrate on basic sciences esp physiology and pathology….read the annexures and boxes within the chapters of Devesh mishra nd Rajamahendran books… they were very useful…try to do all scales, impo values the previous day before exam…be strong with ur basics in all subjects… kindly give more importance to short subjects also…
HOW many choices did u attempt ? ROUGH NUMBER. Please detail your strategies
I attempted 238 questions out of 250 ….
What are the do’s and don’ts in exam
Do not panick when u see a tough or rare mcq….you will have familiar questions coming up…. pls try to rule out options for any question before you mark the answer even if its a very easy question…Use time effective ly..do not waste time thinking on rare questions..keep them at the end…avoid silly mistakes
YOUR recommended books for PG PREPARATION
Any standard MCQ book based on individual opinion….but facts nd answers should be verified from standard text books in case of controversies… I personally recommend ADR study materials…they were awesome
