ADRPLEXUS Target May 2016 Central Institutes course is tailor made in such a way that most of the important and frequently repeated topics and concepts are stressed upon. The schedule although hectic helps bring out the best from us. More importantly all the faculty instilled in us confidence, positivity and never give-up attitude. I would like to thank all the faculty of ADRPLEXUS for giving us the extra edge. The concise notes, ppts and video based lectures were also very helpful for rapid revision.  The PGI mock tests gave us a good idea of how many options to be marked and time management.

Preparation Strategy

What was your study Plan?

The plan was to try to cover all subjects and read few topics from standard books.

How many hours did u study ?

On an average about 12-14 hours/day.  But I believe it’s not the number of hours but how best one utilizes those hours is what matters.

Your tips for success ?

Set a target and don’t let anything deter you till you have achieved what you want. Don’t lose hope. Perseverance is the key.

During your preparation, did you ever doubt your ability to succeed in it?

Yes, this is a period when nothing is certain and one is bound to be skeptical about their preparation. But it is important to overcome the fear and work towards your goal.

How much time do you think one requires for serious preparation for this examination ?

About 8-10 months. But again this depends entirely on an individual.

When did you seriously start preparing for this exam?

April 2015.

Did you face the problem of volatile memory? If so, how did you deal with it?

Yes there are some topics/subjects which are volatile. Made note of such topics and revised them especially few days before the exam.

What was your daily timetable during the preparation? Were you able to stick to the timetable strictly?

I’m a person who can never stick to a timetable but in general about 7 to 10 days/subject .  As far as a day wise approach is concerned I think equal importance is to be given for theory and question papers and if possible a revision of volatile topics.

What is your advice to the future aspirants?

Set a goal and follow it till you get there. Don’t let anything pull you down. Make note of topics you tend to forget and revise them. Don’t just stick to theory, solve previous year papers too-although there might not be any direct repeats, the topics might be repeated. Read few important topics from Robbins, Ganong, Harrison and other standard books. Try to be updated with the recent guidelines.

Which books did you read for the theory part?

Apart from the PG preparation books and class notes, few impotant topics from standard books like Ganong and Robbins.

What was your strategy for the exam day?

The strategy was to stay calm, mange time well and avoid frame shift errors for PGI exam.

What was ur style of answering question. Whether you started from question no 1 and ended with last question or started from middle of the question paper.

Yes I started from Q1 and followed the same order upto Q250 as I did not want to make any frame shifts/marking errors for the OMR based PGI exam.

Did u undergo the phase of depression. How did u overcome it?

Yes I did when I wasn’t getting satisfactory results. Then I realized I have no other option but to keep trying. My parents and professors helped me out of it and not to forget the pep talks and inspirational quotations by Dr. Arunkumar.

Tips for your Juniors

What was your strategy for MAY 2016?

Preparation wise-the strategy was to revise the frequently repeated topics, PGI papers and the subjects in which I was not confident. Followed the schedule of our Target May central institutes course and the advice given by Dr. Arun and the faculty of ADRPLEXUS. Attended PGI mock tests which helped me realize 2 things which do not give a good score -1)Negatives  2)Under attempting.

Also made note of volatile topics and kept revising them.

On the day of the exam the strategy was to stay calm and to utilize the 3 hours judiciously. Did not make guesses with numericals and topics I wasn’t sure of.

HOW many choices did u attempt ? ROUGH NUMBER. Please detail your strategies

Not sure.  I guess it should be around 450-500. I agree for a PGI exam it is important to curtail negatives but under-attempting will not help reach the required percentile.

What are the do’s and don’ts in exam

Do’s– Stay calm, look for the key words-the excepts, not true, double negatives, etc. For PGI exam cross check the question number before marking on the OMR especially if you have left questions for review, manage time judiciously.

Don’ts – Avoid frame shifts, try not to take risks in numerical based questions although you might be tempted to take a guess! Don’t waste time over few questions which you are not sure of, leave those questions and review them later if time permits.

YOUR recommended books for PG PREPARATION

Find a book you are comfortable with and go ahead with that. These are the books I used along with ADRPLEXUS notes and class notes.
